Goals from Victor Moses and Mame Biram Diouf handed Everton a 2-0 win over Stoke City on Wednesday night
Stoke were presented with the first effort at goal in the fifth minute, as Phil Bardsley tested Tim Howard with a curling effort.
The home side went close again in the 30th minute, as Victor Moses did well to create space for himself before seeing his powerful strike palmed away by Howard.
However, Moses was not to be denied two minutes later, as the Nigerian forward rose well to head home Bardsley's cross from the right.
Everton's first chance arrived just before the halftime break, as Aaron Lennon forced Asmir Begovic into a low save.
The second half proved to be a cagey affair, as neither side looked like scoring a goal for large parts of the second half.
Toffees boss, Roberto Martinez, brought on Kevin Mirallas in the hope of bagging an equaliser.
However, Mame Biram Diouf popped up in the 84th minute to lash home a rebound to seal the win for the Potters.

Goals from Nacer Chadli, Ryan Mason and Andros Towsend secured a thrilling 3-2 win for Tottenham Hotspur over Swansea City at White Hart Lane.
