Result: Manchester United 3-1 Burnley
Date: 11 February 2015
Venue: Old Trafford
A brace from Chris Smalling and a penalty from Robin van Persie handed Manchester United a 3-1 win over Burnley at Old Trafford.
Paddy McNair almost opened the scoring in the fourth minute, as the defender's volley from distance produced a fine save from Tom Heaton.
United went ahead a minute later, as Chris Smalling rose well to head into the far corner seconds after coming on as a substitute for Phil Jones.
However, Burnley hit back in the 12th minute courtesy of a fine header from striker Danny Ings, after Angel di Maria had lost possession of the ball.
United restored their lead just before the halftime break, as Smalling headed home Di Maria's delightful cross for his second of the game.
Burnley pushed for a leveller after the halftime break and should have been level in the 48th minute but Ings somehow fired straight into David de Gea from three-yards out.
After a quiet spell in the game, United eventually sealed the three points in the 81st minute courtesy of penalty from Robin van Persie, after Di Maria had been brought down in the area.
Heaton then came to Burnley's rescue in the closing stages, pulling off a fine double save to keep out Adnan Januzaj and Di Maria.
