Iheanacho & Sterling Shine As City Maintain Perfect Start

English Premier League

Result: Manchester City 4-0 AFC Bournemouth

Date: 17 September 2016

Venue: Etihad

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City maintained their winning start to the Premier League season with a 4-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth.

On loan Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere was handed his first start for Bournemouth, while Vincent Kompany was named on the bench for the first time this season.

Pep Guardiola's charges broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when Kevin De Bruyne's clever free-kick sailed under wall into the back of the net.

City doubled their lead 10 minutes later, as De Bruyne played a fine pass to Raheem Sterling, who teed up Kelechi Iheanacho for the simple tap-in.

Bournemouth hardly looked threatening, but nearly reduced the deficit five minutes before the break when Josh King broke free, however Claudio Bravo rushed off his line to deny the striker.

Sterling registered his name on the score-sheet shortly after the break as Iheanacho turned provider to tee up the winger for the close range finish, 3-0.

It was one way traffic at the Etihad, as City added a fourth goal after 67 minutes when Ilkay Gundogan slotted home from close range to mark his Premier League debut with a goal.

The clash ended on a sour note for Guardiola's charges, as Nolito was shown a straight red card for headbutting Adam Smith.

The victory sees Man City mantain top spot in the Premier League for another week.
