English Premier League
Result: Manchester City 6-1 Newcastle
Date: 03 October 2015
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Sergio Aguero netted five goals as Manchester City thumped Newcastle United 6-1 at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon.
City were without the services of captain Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure, with both players still dealing with injuries.
It was the Magpies who broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Aleksandar Mitrovic turned home Georginio Wijnaldum's cross. His first league goal for the club.
Manuel Pellegrini's men then leveled matters just before the halftime break when Aguero tapped home from close range, after getting on the end of Fernandinho's knockdown.
City then went ahead five minutes into the second half, as Aguero cut inside before seeing his left-footed effort deflect into the far corner.
However, Aguero completed his hat-trick a minute later when Silva played the Argentine through on goal and the striker lobbed the on-rushin Tim Krul.
City got their fourth goal in the 53rd minute when Jesus Navas floated in a well-weight cross to Kevin Bruyne, who finished with a acrobatic effort from 12-yards out.
It got better for Manuel Pellegrini's side in the 59th minute when Aguero collected a pass from Silva, before curling an effort into the bottom corner.
The goals didn't stop there for Aguero, as De Bruyne picked out the Argentine forward for the easiest of tap-ins from six-yards out in the 62nd minute.
It was one way traffic in the second half, although Wilfried Bony should have got his name on the score-sheet in the 74th minute but the Ivorian volleyed wide of the upright inside the six-yard area.
Pellegrini's men have now returned to the top of the English Premier League standings, while the Magpies remain in 19th spot and are yet to secure a win this season.
