Result: Manchester City 2-1 West Bromwich Albion
Date: 09 April 2016
Venue: Etihad
Samir Nasri's second-half strike earned Manchester City a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad on Saturday evening.
The Etihad was stunned into silence after six-minutes, as West Brom took the lead courtesy of a thumping strike from Stephane Sessegnon.
City were then awarded a penalty in the 18th minute when Aleksander Kolarov was brought down. Sergio Aguero stepped and made no mistake from the penalty spot.
Kolarov went close for City in the 25th minute, as his stinging effort from distance sailed inches over the crossbar.
The visitors then went close in the 29th minute when Saido Berahino did well to tee up Craig Gardner, who fired a low effort just wide of the upright.
Despite City's domination, the score remained level at 1-1 as the sides enter the break.
After a quiet start to the second half, Manuel Pellegrini opted to re-shuffle the pack and introduced Yaya Toure and Kevin de Bruyne.
City then went ahead in the 66th minute when Samir Nasri had the simple task of tapping into an empty, after Aguero's effort had been blocked.
West Brom then squandered a glorious chance to level matters after 70 minutes, as Sessegnon combined well with James Chester before firing wide of the upright with only Hart to beat.
Despite a late push from Tony Pulis' men, City managed to hold out for the victory and cement their top four spot for another week.
