English Premier League
Result: Liverpool 2-0 Burnley
Date: 04 March 2015
Goals from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge earned Liverpool a 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Liverpool nearly opened the scoring as early as the first minute, but Sturridge's effort from close range forced Tom Heaton into a brilliant save.
The home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute courtesy of fine half-volley from Jordan Henderson, after Coutinho's effort had been blocked.
Heaton was called into action just before the halftime break, the Burnely shot-stopper rushed off his line to thwart Sturridge from close range.
It didn't take long for Liverpool to get a second goal in the second half, as Henderson picked out Sturridge for a well placed header in the 50th minute.
Chances were hard to come by for Burnley but they went close of the hour-mark, as Ashley Barnes' low effort sailed just wide from inside the area.
Raheem Sterling came close to getting his name on the score-sheet in the 77th minute but his stinging effort was palmed away by Heaton.
Brendan Rodgers' side managed to see out the rest of the game with relative ease, as they keep up the pressure on Manchester United and Arsenal.
