Everton returned to winning ways in the league after defeating Newcastle United 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
Newcastle had an opportunity to go ahead in the fourth minute, as Yohann Gouffran chipped the ball in the for Emmanuel Riviere, who's header was saved by Tim Howard.
Romelu Lukaku then went close minutes later, the striker skipped past a few tackles before forcing into Tim Krul into a fine save.
Everton eventually broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Lukaku teed up James McCarthy, who showed good control before firing into the bottom right-hand corner.
Ryan Taylor nearly leveled matters for Newcastle shortly after the halftime break but his curling free-kick sailed inches over the crossbar.
However, Everton were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute after Gouffran had brought down Aaron Lennon in the area and Lukaku stepped up and sent Krul the wrong way.
Newcastle's task was made even tougher three minute later, as captain Fabricio Coloccini was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge.
The Toffees eventually got a third in stoppage time, as Christian Atsu delightfully picked out Ross Barkley, who rounded Krul and slotted into an empty net.
