Everton's poor run of form continued, after they drew 0-0 with West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park on Monday night.
The Toffees got off to a strong start with Kevin Mirallas and Leighton Baines testing out West Brom shot-stopper, Ben Foster, in the opening exchanges.
Roberto Martinez's side were struggling to create any chances from open play and were restricted to long range efforts and set-pieces.
However, Everton were presented with a chance to open the scoring just before the halftime from the penalty spot and after a long discussion between Mirallas and Baines, the latter stepped up and fired his effort against the upright.
West Brom were happy to sit back and soak up all the pressure, with the hope of catching Everton on the counter.
Romelu Lukaku had the chance to give the home side the lead midway through the second half but the Belgian failed to turn home Steven Naismith's inviting cross.
West Brom had a chance to sneak a win in the closing stages, but Stephane Sessegnon managed to blast well wide of the mark from the close range.
Everton have now failed to win their last six league matches, drawing two and losing four.
