Fabregas Brace Rescues Chelsea

Result: Chelsea 2-2 West Ham United
Date: 19 March 2016
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Cesc Fabregas netted a late penalty to earn Chelsea a point, as they drew 2-2 with West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers got off to an encouraging start, while the Blues looked sloppy in possession.
The visitors were rewarded for their good start, when Manuel Lanzini rifled home a stunning strike past Thibaut Courtois from distance in the 17th minute.
West Ham went close to getting a second in the 32nd minute, as Lanzini teed up Aaron Cresswell with a flick, however the defender's effort deflected inches wide of the upright.
The Blues went close five minutes before the halftime break, as Willian's curling free-kick sailed just wide of Adrian's goal.
However, Chelsea hit back on the stroke of halftime courtesy of a sublime free-kick from Cesc Fabregas that left Adrian with no chance.
West Ham restored their lead after the hour-mark, as substitute Andy Carroll skipped past Branislav Ivanovic, before calmly slotting past Courtois.
Courtois came to Chelsea's rescue in the 79th minute, as the Belgian shot-stopper did well to keep out Carroll's header from six-yards out.
Guus Hiddink's charges were awarded a penalty in the 87th minute when Ruben Loftus-Cheeck was brought down in the box. Fabregas stepped up and converted from the spot for his second of the game, 2-2.
The Blues could have won the game in stoppage time when Bertrand Traore picked out Loftus-Cheek but the teenager dragged his effort wide of the upright from 12-yards out.
