Pep's Man City Hand Gerrard First EPL Loss

Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester City handed Seven Gerrard his first defeat as Aston Villa manager after securing a 2-1 win at Villa Park.

The defending Premier League champions opened the scoring on 27 minutes courtesy of Ruben Dias, before his countryman Bernardo Silva doubled the lead two minutes before the break.

Ollie Watkins pulled goal for Gerrard's men shortly after the break, but they were unable to find the equaliser as the Citizens cemented second spot.

Watford 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea weathered the storm to see off Watford 2-1 in a Premier League showing at the Vicarage Road on Wednesday evening.

The match started and was then suspended for a brief period following an emergency in the stands, but it eventually resumed and saw the Blues go ahead through Mason Mount.

On-form Emmanuel Bonaventure brought the Hornets level before Hakim Ziyech came off the bench to bag the winning strike that leaves the Blues on top of the table.

Southampton 2-2 Leicester City

Southampton failed to return to winning ways and into a respectably league position with a 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the St Mary’s Stadium

The Saints had the ideal start as Jan Bednarek netted the opener, but Jonny Evans got the Foxes back level before Che Adams restored the host advantage into halftime.

Leicester pulled up a strong response after the said interval and managed to level matters through James Maddison.

West Ham United 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion

West Ham United maintained their top-four ambitions following a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at the London Stadium.

The Hammers saw a fifth minute header from Tomas Soucek provide them the opener and looked on course for the victory until Neal Maupay spoiled their party.

It’s turned out to be a massive point for the Seagulls, who jumped from 10th to seventh spot with the Hammers stationed fourth on the table.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Burnley

Wolverhampton Wanderers rued another frustrating goalless draw against another bottom-three outfit in Burnley at the Molineux Stadium.

This follows their goalless stalemate against Norwich City on Saturday and as such remained sixth on the league table.
