Spurs Suffer Shock Defeat, Cardiff Boost Survival Hopes

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a shock defeat to relegation threatened Southampton while Cardiff City boosted their survival hopes with victory over West Ham United.

James Ward-Prowse netted a sensational winning goal for Southampton in their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon at St Mary’s Stadium.
 
Harry Kane got the opener for Spurs in the 26th minute but the Saints rallied in the second stanza as Yan Valery levelled matters with 14 minutes remaining.
 
Ward-Prowse netted a sensational free-kick nine minutes before time to clinch a crucial three points that saw them move two points away from the relegation zone.
 
Cardiff City 2-0 West Ham United 
 
Cardiff City boosted their chances of survival in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday evening at Cardiff City Stadium.
 
Junior Hoilett and Victor Camarasa netted on either half to give the Bluebirds crucial three points, but they remained in the relegation zone two points away from safety.
 
Huddersfield Town 0-2 Bournemouth 
 
Bournemouth piled more misery on doomed Huddersfield Town with a 2-0 victory on Saturday evening.
 
Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser scored in both halves to give the Cherries a comfortable victory.
 
Leicester City 3-1 Fulham 
 
Jamie Vardy netted a brace as Leicester City dented Fulham’s slim chances of survival with a 3-1 win on Saturday evening at the King Power Stadium.
 
Youri Tielemans got the opener in the first stanza while Floyd Ayite found the leveller for the Cottagers six minutes after the break.
 
It was not to be for Fulham as Vardy scored a brace in the last 12 minutes of the game to seal the three points.
 
Newcastle United United 3-2 Everton 
 
Ayoze Perez scored a late brace for Newcastle United in their come-from-behind 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday evening at St. James’ Park.
 
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison gave the Toffees a two goal cushion going to the break.
 
Salomon Rondon, though, pulled a goal back in the 65th minute while Perez scored a brace in three minutes from the 81st to the 84th minute to seal a dramatic victory for the Magpies.
