There were only two English Premier League games on Sunday as Tottenham Hotspur beat Sunderland while Leicester came from behind to beat Aston Villa.
It was a day filled with goals as the back of the net was found six times.
Spurs left it late to beat Sunderland after an 82nd minute goal from Ryan Mason handed them a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light.
The away side was lucky to pick up their second win of the league season after Sunderland controlled large portions of the match and even struck the woodwork in the first half courtesy of a Jermain Defoe strike.
Nonetheless, Spurs persisted and found the winner after Mason was slipped through on goal by Erik Lamela and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat.
The loss is Sunderland’s third of the season and sees them rooted to the bottom of the table with only two points after five league games.
In the other English Premier League match, Nathan Dyer scored late on to earn Leicester a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Walkers Stadium.
Jack Grealish handed Villa the lead in the 39th minute before Carles Gil doubled their lead just after the hour mark.
A late siege from Leicester saw them pick up all three points as Ritchie De Laet pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute before an 82nd minute goal from Vardy saw the game levelled at 2-2.
Dyer then scored in the 90th minute to win the game for the home team, 3-2.
