Southampton Drop To Fourth

It was an exciting Wednesday night in the English Premier League with 14 goals scored across six games as Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion won their respective matches.

Chelsea maintained their seven point lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues, though, left it very late to register their 18th win of the league season with William scoring in the 89th minute to secure all three points.

Chelsea are now on 59 points from 25 games while Everton sit in the lower half of the table in 12th place with 27 points.

Manchester City stayed within seven points of the league leaders with an emphatic 4-1 win over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Sergio Aguero scored a brace while James Milner and Samir Nasri got the other goals for Manchester City which sees them firmly in second place on the table while sit in tenth place on 33 points.

Manchester United moved back up to third on the table with a 3-1 win over Burnley at Old Trafford.

Chris Smalling surprisingly got a brace and Robin Van Persie United’s other goal from the penalty spot as they moved up to 47 points, five behind second placed Manchester City and one point above fourth placed Southampton while Burnley are second from bottom on the table with 21 points.

Southampton saw themselves up to fourth with 46 points after a goalless draw against West Ham United at St. Mary's Stadium while sit in eighth on 38 points.

Goals from Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino saw West Brom register only their sixth win of the season after beating Swansea City 2-0 at the Hawthorns.

The win takes West Brom further away from the relegation zone and up to 14th place with 26 points while Swansea dropped to ninth place with 34 points.

The final game of the evening was a 1-1 draw between Crystal Palace and Newcastle United at Selhurst Park.

The draw leaves Newcastle in 11th place with 32 points while Crystal Palace sit in 13th place with 27 points.
