English Premier League
Result: Liverpool 1-1 Norwich City
Date: 20 September 2015
Venue: Anfield
Liverpool were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday evening.
Both sides showed their intention was offensive play, and after a few failed attempts to get a clear shot, Graham Dorrans had a shot from outside the box go just wide of the Liverpool goal.
Liverpool began to gain some momentum as the game progressed but the Norwich defense was proving to be rock steady and it was going to take a great effort to break through on goal.
Nathaniel Clyne came close in the 29th minute before Daniel Sturridge had a shot well saved by Ruddy in the Norwich goal. The hosts were looking threatening as the half-time whistle loomed and James Milner also forced a save out of Ruddy on the stroke of half-time but the shot-stopper ensured that the scores were tied at the break.
Almost straight after the restart, Danny Ings stepped up to tuck a fine effort into the bottom to give The Reds a 1-0 advantage.
The home side continued to dominate the opening exchanges of the second half, continuing where they left off in the first, and Philippe Coutinho should have extended their lead in the 54th minute but his shot was wide.
Five minutes later, Russell Martin made no mistake for Norwich as he put the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-1 following a corner.
Both sides then upped the tempo in search of the winner as the clock was running down. Matthew Jarvis and Alberto Moreno had good chances but the goalkeepers were well aware and kept the strikes out.
The Reds added numbers into their attack in the dying moments of the clash and Adam Lallana came so close to finding a winner in stoppage time after a corner, before Emre Can also had to watch his shot go inches wide a few moments later.
The match ended tied at 1-1.
Earlier in the day, Son Heung-Mi's 68th minute effort proved to be the difference as Tottenham Hotspur walked away 1-0 victors over Crystal Palace.
