English Premier League
Result: West Ham United 0-3 Southampton
Date: 25 September 2016
Venue: Olympic Stadium
Goals from Charlie Austin and Dusan Tadic helped Southampton clinch a 3-0 win over West Ham United at Olympic Park.
The opening half proved to be a poor affair. Southampton saw most of the ball, although they struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances in the opening stanza.
West Ham, meanwhile, were second best for most of the opening 45 minutes, while the likes of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini were nowhere to be seen.
The Saints eventually broke the deadlock after 40 minutes when Charlie Austin turned home Ryan Bertrand's low cross from the left.
Slaven Bilic responded by introducing Algerian winger, Sofiane Feghouli for Manuel Lanzini at the start of the second half.
Southampton doubled their advantage after the hour-mark, as Austin turned provider to play in Dusan Tadic, who showed great composure to dummy Adrian and slot into an empty net.
The Hammers nearly pulled level after 70 minutes, but Virgil Van Dijk cleared Simone Zaza's close range effort off the line.
However, Southampton rounded off the scoring in stoppage time when substitute James Ward-Prowse turned home Sean Davis' low cross to make it 3-0.
