English Premier League
Result: West Ham United 0-0 Chelsea
Date: 23 September 2018
Venue: Olympic Stadium
Chelsea's perfect start to the Premier League season came to an end after they were held to a draw by London rivals West Ham United.
Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud and Mateo Kovacic all returned to the line up after being rested for their Europe League clash on Thursday evening.
It was the Blues who dominated from the onset at the Olympic Stadium, but they struggled to break down the Hammers defence for large parts of the opening 20 minutes.
The Hammers had to wait until the 30th minute for their glimpses at goal as Michail Antonio squandered two good opportunities in the box.
That proved to be the final clear-cut chance for the remainder of the half as the sides went into the break level pegging, although the Blues were more dominant.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with Blues dominating without creating much in the final third.
As a result, both coaches opted for a change as Giroud made for Alvaro Morata, while West Ham threw on Lucas Perez for Antonio after 65 minutes.
The Hammers should have gone ahead on 78 minutes as Robert Snodgrass sent a delightful cross to the far post, where Yarmolenko somehow headed with only goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Blues threw everything forward in pursuit of a winning goal, but Wets Ham hung to claim a vital point.
