West Ham Claim First Home Win

English Premier League
Result: West Ham 2-0 Newcastle
Date: 14 September 2015
Venue: Boleyn Ground
West Ham United recorded their first home win of the Premier League season as they beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Monday night.
The Hammers needed only nine minutes to open their account as they took the lead through Dimitri Payet. Sakho backheeled for Mark Noble at the edge of the area and the captain teed up the Frenchman who struck it first-time into the top corner of the goal.
The Magpies had a great chance to level matters in the 20th minute when Janmaat surged down the right flank before his pass was knocked towards Wijnaldum. His first-touch was heavy but fell for the right-back who couldn't find a way past the keeper.
West Ham were on the attack again two minutes before the break. They broke from a counter-attack which saw Payet play it on for Victor Moses, but the Chelsea loanee couldn't direct his shot on target.
Three minutes into the second half the hosts were two goals clear thanks to Payet. Another slick counter attack saw Moses race away toward goal only to see his shot bounce back off the bar. The rebound fell at Payet's feet and he fired home for a 2-0 lead.
Steve McLaren's charges came close to making the last 10 minutes interesting when Ayoze Perez found Siem de Jong at the top of the box, but the substitute's deflected shot was well saved by Darren Randolph.
