Romelu Lukaku was on target once again as Manchester United registered a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
The opening exchanges of the match was slow with United still having a feel of the ball and setting up their stall patiently.
The Baggies, meanwhile, were happy to sit back as they look to play long balls to Salomon Rondon upfront at every chance they got.
Romelu Lukaku eventually opened the scoring for United in the 27th minute with a powerful header that found the top corner following a dipping cross from Marcus Rashford.
Jesse Lingard made it 2-0 in the 35th minute after his strike deflected off Ahmed Hegazi and sailed past a helpless Ben Foster.
United were looking like they were running away with the match in the 40th minute as they continued to attack with great intensity.
However, the Baggies were relieved to go into the halftime break only trailing by two goals, while David de Gea endured a quiet opening 45 minutes.
Lukaku almost scored a third goal for United 10 minutes after the break making a diagonal run into the area but his shot was smothered by Ben Foster.
The hosts made their first substitution in the 67th minute after bringing on Jay Rodriguez in place of Oliver Barker.
With 20 minutes remaining, United were dealt a blow when Antonio Valencia could not continue due to an injury. He was replaced by Marcos Rojo.
Rondon had a chance to pull one goal back in the 73rd minute, but his low shot inside the area did not trouble De Gea.
Gareth Barry managed to pull a goal back for the Baggies 13 minutes before time following a goal-mouth scramble inside the six-yard box, 1-2.
Rodriguez nearly equalised with five minutes left to play with a powerful header at the near post but his effort sailed wide.
The Magpies pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages of the second half, but United remained resolute and held on for three points.
