Result: Watford 3-1 Manchester United
Date: 18 September 2016
Venue: Vicerage Road
Manchester United suffered their third successive defeat after losing 3-1 to Watford at Vicerage Road on Sunday afternoon.
The home side should have broken the deadlock after 14 minutes when a mix-up between De Gea and Chris Smalling gifted the ball to Odion Ighalo, who shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
The Red Devils struggled to get going and only got their first real attempt at goal after 30 minutes when Paul Pogba rattled the crossbar with a strike from 25-yards out.
Watford broke the deadlock after 34 minutes when Daryl Janmaat teed up Etienne Capoue, who slotted into the bottom corner, after Anthony Martial had lost the ball.
United were dealt a blow following the opening goal, as Martial sustained an injury in the build-up and was replaced Ashley Young.
Jose Mourinho's charges eventually leveled matters just after the hour-mark, when a poor clearance landed at the feet of Marcus Rashford, who fired home from six-yards out.
The visitors were in control after leveling matters, and nearly took the lead in the 79th minute but Gomes produced a fine save to keep out Zlatan Ibrahimovic's towering header.
However, Watford restored their lead after 83 minutes as Roberto Pereyra raced into the box, before cutting the ball back for Zuniga, who slotted into the far corner, 2-1.
The Hornets were awarded a spot-kick in stoppage time when Zuniga was brought down in the box. Troy Deeney stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, 3-1.
