English Premier League
Result: Watford 1-2 Chelsea
Date: 20 August 2016
Venue: Vicarage Road
Diego Costa proved to be the hero for Chelsea once again, as the Blues recorded a 2-1 win over Watford at Vicarage Road.
Antonio Conte's charges saw most of the ball in the early stages, while Watford were struggling to keep the ball whenever they were in possession.
Watford got stronger as the first half went on, although much like the Blues, they struggled to carve out a lot of chances.
The Hornets created the best opening of the half after 25 minutes as Amrabat picked out Odion Ighalo in the box, but the Nigerian failed to hit the target from close range.
Neither side looked threatening for the rest of the first half, as the score remained goalless as they headed into the break.
However, it was Watford who broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half, as an un-marked Capoue volleyed home at the far post.
With Chelsea struggling for most of the second half, Conte introduced Victor Moses and Michy Batshuayi after 70 minutes.
Batshuayi made the perfect impact as he leveled matters in the 80th minute when fired home from six-yards out, after Eden Hazard's initial shot was saved.
Chelsea then secured the win in the 87th minute, as Cesc Fabregas' sublime pass found Costa, who raced clear on goal and calmly slotted under Gomes.
