English Premier League
Result: Burnley 2-0 Watford
Date: 26 September 2016
Venue: Turf Moor
Burnley ended their three-game winless run in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Watford at Turf Moor on Monday night.
The home side enjoyed most of the possession in the opening exchanges, but struggled to carve out chances in the final third.
Watford, meanwhile, were a shadow of the side that defeated Manchester United last week, and spent most of the first half chasing the game.
Burnley eventually broke the deadlock after 37 minutes as Jeff Hendrick rose well to head home a corner for his first goal for the club.
The score remained 1-0 to the home side as the sides entered the halftime break.
However, Burnley doubled their advantage five minutes into the second half, as Michael Keane got on the end of Steven Defour's cross and glanced home a header into the far corner, 2-0.
Watford opted for a change on the hour mark, as Nigerian forward Isaac Success replaced Amrabat as the visitors looked for a way back into the clash.
The visitors pushed for a goal as the half went on, with Success looking particularly dangerous down the left flank. However, they struggled to bypass a stubborn Burnley defence, as the score remained 2-0.
The victory moves Burnley up to 13th spot in the league standings, while the Hornets remain in 11th position.
