Krkic Penalty Leads Stoke To Narrow Win
English Premier League
Result: Swansea 0-1 Stoke
Date: 19 October 2015
Venue: Liberty Stadium
A solitary strike from Bojan Krkic was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Stoke at Swansea on Monday night.
The game was off to a frantic start as the Potters won a penalty in only the third minute of the clash. Krkic weaved his way into the area and was brought down by Ashley Williams, leading to a penalty which he slotted with power.
Stoke were all over the hosts again as they came close to doubling their lead three minutes after the opener. Erik Pieters played Joselu through but he couldn't produce the finish.
The Swans had a chance of their own in the 17th minute when Jack Cork looped a cross towards Bafetimbi Gomis but he failed to put his header on target.
Joselu nearly scored a spectacular goal in the 28th minute. Xherdan Shaqiri's pass picked Joselu out and he almost found the top corner of the goal with an acrobatic bicycle kick.
Jonjo Shelvey was unlucky not to find the equaliser just before the hour mark. He rattled the woodwork with a thunderous shot from a tight angle.
Gylfi Sigurdsson came off the bench for the hosts and almost produced the leveller in the 70th minute as he curled a long-range shot just wide of the target.
