English Premier League
Result: Swansea 2-1 Manchester United
Date: 21 February 2015
Venue: Liberty Stadium
Manchester United squandered a one-goal lead to as they went down 2-1 at Swansea City in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
The Swans came agonisingly close to taking the lead after only five minutes. The hosts won a corner-kick which concluded with Bafetimbi Gomis heading the ball towards the bottom corner of the goal only to see Ander Herrera clear it off the line at the last moment.
However, it was the Red Devils who hit the front in the 28th minute. Wayne Rooney cut the ball back for Angel Di Maria to play a first-time pass for Herrera who provided the cool finish to give United the advantage.
The away side's celebrations were short-lived as Swansea hit back with an equaliser a mere two minutes later. Jonjo Shelvey sent in a lovely cross that was latched onto by Ki Sung Yeung who stabbed home the finish and restore parity.
The hosts were in the lead for the first time in the 73rd minute when Shelvey rifled a shot at goal that took a wicked deflection off Gomis to beat De Gea and send the Liberty Stadium into raptures.
The defeat was the Red Devils' first on the road since September. Swansea also made history by recording their first ever double over Man United.
