Arsenal Maintain Dominant Form At Swansea
English Premier League
Result: Swansea 0-3 Arsenal
Date: 31 October 2015
Venue: Liberty Stadium
Arsenal continued their run of form in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Swansea on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners started the game positively and came within inches of taking the lead in the 17th minute when Campbell curled a shot at goal from the top of the box only to narrowly miss the target with Fabianski stranded.
Swansea should have taken the lead in the 21st minute when Jonjo Shelvey sent a sublime ball forward to for Bafetimbi Gomis to run onto, but the striker reacted slowly and spurned the chance to round the keeper.
Arsenal had a great chance to score the opener shortly thereafter when Alexis Sanchez rolled a perfect ball to Olivier Giroud but instead of taking a touch and tapping it home, he tried to take it first-time and sent the strike over.
A mistake from Gomis cost the Swans another telling chance. A beautiful ball from Shelvey would have sent Montero clean through but Gomis ran onto the end of it from an offside position.
The opener arrived four minutes after the half-time break. Poor marking from an Arsenal corner kick saw Giroud get to the ball first to head home the Gunners' 2000th goal under Arsene Wenger.
Petr Cech proved his worth between the sticks for the visitors in the 51st minute. Gylfi Sigurdsson was given room to shoot but the goalkeeper went flying through the air to retain the Gunners' lead.
The lead was doubled in the 68th minute. Fabianski came off his line to claim a cross but ran into Koscielny and spilled the ball, allowing the defender to tap it in. Swansea furiously protested the decision to allow the goal.
Arsenal secured the victory in the 73rd minute as they netted their third. A deft little one-two between Mesut Ozil and Sanchez resulted in Joel Campbell's first Premier League goal on his debut.
