Brazilian Stars Seal Victory For Mane-Less Liverpool

English Premier League

Result: Stoke City 1-2 Liverpool

Date: 08 April 2017

Venue: Bet365 Stadium

Brazilian duo, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino helped Liverpool come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.

Xherdan Shaqiri thought he had found the opening goal of after three minutes but his goal was disallowed after being adjudged to have been offside.

In the 18th minute Divock Origi found space on the left wing and cut back to his right foot brilliantly to shoot but his effort missed narrowly wide.

The Reds were beginning to get foothold in the game and creating goal-scoring opportunities.

However, both sides were finding it tough carve to out chances in the opening 45 minutes, much to the frustration of the home crowd.

A minute later Jonathan Walters grabbed the lead for the Potters, as Shaqiri teed up the Irish forward, who slotted home from close range.

The potters would be delighted heading into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.

In the 54th minute Georginio Wijnaldum nearly scored an own goal and was only rescued by a fine save from Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool  eventually leveled matters in the 70th minute, as the Potters were unable to clear their lines from a cross into the box and Coutinho was on hand to fire into the bottom corner.

Roberto Firmino put the Reds into the lead two minutes later, as the Brazilian collected a pass from  Wijnaldum before rifling home from 12-yards out.

Coutinho had the opportunity to end the game as a contest  in the 87th minute, but sent his shot narrowly wide after being put through on goal by Firmino.
