In-form Harry Kane was on target once again as Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Southampton at St Mary's on Sunday evening.
Manolo Gabbiadini nearly sent the Saints ahead in the first minute with a powerful left-footed strike that was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Michel Vorm.
The home went ahead in the 14th minute after Ryan Bertrand had his cross deflected into the back of the net by Davinson Sanchez.
Harry Kane replied four minutes later with a clinical headed finish inside the box following a cross from Ben Davies to make it 1-1.
Spurs pressurised the hosts after half-an-hour with Davies proving to be dangerous on the left wing with threatening crosses.
Jack Stephens almost gave the Saints the lead five minutes before the break but he could not find the target with a close range header.
The half ended with the hosts having more possession, but it ended all square with all to play for in the second stanza.
Son Heung-min had a chance to put Spurs ahead 10 minutes into the second half, but his strike was smothered by Alex McCarthy.
Mauricio Pochettino's charges were dictating play after 65 minutes with Dele Alli looking dangerous while combining with Davies.
Alli almost sent the visitors ahead in the 79th minute with a half-volley from the edge of the box that sailed over the bar.
Erik Lamela could have netted the winner with five minutes to go but saw his strike from just inside the box being cleared off the line by Stephens.
Nevertheless, neither side could find a winning goal in the closing stages and they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
