Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named an unchanged side from Tuesday's big win over Brighton and Hove Albion, while Eddie Howe made four changes as they looked to bounce back.
It was the visitors who broke the deadlock after 15 minutes as Junior Stanislas put the ball through Harry Maguire's legs before scoring from a tight angle at David de Gea's near post.
United weren't behind for too long as Burno Fernandes turned provider once again to pick out Mason Greenwood, who rifled the ball beyond Ramsdale.
The hosts were then awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute when Adam Smith's handled Martial's header in the box. Rashford stepped up instead of Fernandes and converted from 12-yards out.
There was enough time for United to add a third just before the break when Anthony Martial bagged his 20th goal of the campaign with a superb finish from the edge of the box.
Bourmeouth got the start they wanted after being awarded a penalty when Eric Bailly was judged to have handled, which allowed Joshua King to slot home from 12 yards.
However, the two-goal lead was restored in the 53rd minute as Greenwood collected a pass from Nemanja Matic before finding the top corner from the edge of the box.
United got their fifth goal on the hour mark Fernandes when Fernandes curled home a superb free-kick from the edge of the area.
As expected, Solskjaer rang the changes for the final 20 minutes as Fred, Daniel James, Odion Ighalo and Juan Mata were given a run.
Ighalo nearly added a sixth in the final five minutes after being played in by Fernandes, but the Nigerian was unable to find the target as the encounter ended 5-2.
