English Premier League
Result: Manchester United 0-0 Hull City
Date: 01 February 2017
Venue: Old Trafford
Manchester United's top four hopes took a dent, after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Hull City at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David de Gea and Michael Carrick all returned to the Man United line up, after being rested over the weekend.
The Red Devils dominated in the opening exchanges and went close in the 14th minute when Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw his stinging effort saved by Hull shot-stopper, Eldin Jakupovic.
Hull were quite happy to sit back and soak up pressure, as United struggled to break down the visitors in the final, forcing the likes of Pogba and Ibrahimovic to shoot from distance.
Mourinho opted for a change at the break, as Wayne Rooney replaced Carrick as they pushed for an opening goal.
After a slow start, United should have broken the deadlock after 72 minutes but Juan Mata failed to beat Jakupovic from six-yards out.
The Hull goalkeeper continued to frustrate the Man United stars, as he produced a number of saves to deny the home side a goal.
The visitors nearly snatched a win in stoppage time, but Lazar Markovic struck the upright from the edge of the area.
The draw sees Mourinho's men miss the chance to close the gap on Liverpool and Arsenal, both of whom dropped points on Tuesday.
