Result: Manchester United 4-0 Crystal Palace
Date: 30 September 2017
Venue: Old Trafford
Manchester United continued their impressive goal scoring form with a 4-0 thumping of Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils got off to the perfect start after great play down the wing by Marcus Rashford saw the youngster pull the ball back to Juan Marta who finished clinically to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
United were all over Crystal Palace and a great team move ended with Nemanja Matic’ side footed effort sailed over the bar.
Roy Hodgson’s men have struggled defensively and today it was no different. A glorious cross from Ashley Young found the lanky figure of Marouane Fellaini who nodded home to give his side a 2-0 lead after 35 minutes.
Marcus Rashford had a chance to make it three just before half time but his effort was deflected behind goal by Palace keeper Wayne Hennesey to keep scores 2-0 going into the break.
Rashford was a thorn in the defense and it was his free-kick delivery that allowed Fellaini to get his second and United’s third goal on the day.
Romelu Lukaku almost made it four for United after he twisted his way into the box but the in-form forward put his shot agonizingly wide of the target.
Anthony Martial found space behind the Palace defense after a great ball from Ander Herrera set the winger on his way. Martial squared the ball and found the evergreen Lukaku who tapped in to score United’s fourth.
Crysal Palace are still without a goal this season while United claimed yet another 4-goal haul as they ran away 4-0 winners.
