English Premier League
Result: Manchester United 1-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Date: 25 November 2017
Venue: Old Trafford
Manchester United moved five points behind Manchester City after recording a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho named the same line up that thrashed Newcastle United 4-1 last weekend, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan returned to the bench.
It was Brighton who looked lively in the early stages with Anthony Knockaert seeing a lot of the ball.
However, the Red Devils struggled to carve out clear-cut openings, despite seeing a lot of the ball in the opening half.
Jose Mourinho's charges should have taken the lead just before the halftime break but Romelu Lukaku was denied by Matt Ryan, before Paul Pogba failed score from three-yards out.
The hosts struggled to carve out chances in the second half, which prompted Mourinho to introduce Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Juan Mata on 62 minutes.
Eight minutes later, United took the lead as the ball dropped for Ashley Young on the edge of the box and his shot was deflected in by Lewis Dunk.
Bright then opted for a double change with 15 minutes remaining as Tomer Hemed and Jose Izquierdo were introduced.
However, the Red Devils managed to see out the closing stages to claim a valuable three points at Old Trafford.
