Marouane Fellaini struck in the dying moments as Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday evening,
United were threatening to go ahead in the early stages and looked sharp with some crisp passing in the middle of the park.
Paul Pogba opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 15th minute with a tap-in into a gaping net after Alexis Sanchez’s diving header ricocheted off the post, 1-0.
The Gunners were struggling to make headway after 20 minutes as David de Gea endured a quiet start to the game.
Romelu Lukaku should have doubled United’s lead in the 33rd minute after being sent through on the right side of the box but he fired wide.
Ashley Young almost got the second goal for the Red Devils three minutes before the break with a cross-cum-shot that came off the upright.
Five minutes into the second half, Henrikh Mkhitaryan got the reply for Arsene Wenger’s troops with a low strike past De Gea after being gifted space inside the box, 1-1.
The Gunners were recovering with 20 minutes to go and Danny Welbeck almost sent them ahead with a strike from range but De Gea was well alert.
Marcus Rashford thought he had found the winner for the Red Devils two minutes before full-time after netting at the back post but he was flagged offside.
However, Morouane Fellaini finally netted two minutes into stoppage time with a header inside the box to snatch all the three points in what was Arsene Wenger's last visit to Old Trafford as Arsenal manager before stepping down at the end of the season.
