English Premier League
Result: Manchester City 3-1 Bournemouth
Date: 01 December 2018
Venue: Etihad
Manchester City cemented top spot in the Premier League for another week after defeating Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola may two surprising omissions as top scorer Sergio Aguero and David Silva were left out of the squad completely.
The changes made no difference for the home side, who broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when Leroy Sane's cross deflected into the path of Bernardo Silva who rifled the ball home from 12-yards out.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, struggled to pose any serious threat on the counter attack, with City goalkeeper Ederson enduring a quiet first half.
However, the Etihad was stunned into silence just before the halftime break when Callum Wilson lost his marker and sent a header to the far corner to restore parity.
The hosts had a chance to restore their lead in the 50th minute when Raheem Sterling weaved his way into the box before hitting the upright.
Sterling was not to be denied seven minutes later, with the winger rifling the ball into the roof of the net after pouncing onto a loose ball in the box.
Fernandinho should have wrapped up the result in the 68th minute but Brazilian midfielder palced his effort wide of the upright after some good work by Jesus.
The third goal eventually arrived in the 79th minute as Sane turned provider once again to pick out Illkay Gundogan, who made no mistake from close range.
City manage to see out the final stages with relative ease to preserve their unbeaten record this season.
