Result: Man City 2-0 Leicester
Date: 4 March 2015
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Manchester City kept the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the Premier League standings with a 2-0 in over Leicester on Wednesday.
The Sky Blues were out of the gates in a flash as they threatened to open the scoring in only the fourth minute of play. A corner kick from David Silva picked out Bony but his glancing header was cleared off the line by Esteban Cambiasso.
City looked good in the 33rd minute as Navas drove towards the byline before cutting the ball back for Bony to strike, but Mark Schwarzer made a solid save to prevent the Ivorian striker.
Bony was once again in the thick of the action three minutes before the break. Silva instigated an attack with a lovely pass into the box for the striker who took a deft touch before turning to strike, but the effort was high and wide.
Silva put the hosts on the scoresheet in first-half stoppage time. Kolarov surged down the left wing and fired a dangerous cross into the area where Silva found the back of the net from close range after a few blocked shots.
Schwarzer kept Leicester in the game with another great save in the 70th minute. Yaya Toure unleashed a 25-yard strike that seemed destined for the top corner but the Australian shot stopper tipped it over the bar.
The Foxes came agonisingly close to a leveller in the 76th minute. Mahrez pounced on the loose ball and hit a powerful half-volley from 25 yards out, but it crashed into the woodwork instead.
The result was put beyond doubt in the 88th minute. Navas pierced the Leicester defence on the right wing and crossed for James Milner who turned it home from a few yards out.
