Result: Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 4 February 2018
Harry Kane scored a 95th minute penalty to see Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur draw 2-2 in an English Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday.
It was a horrible start to the game for Tottenham after a catastrophic error in defence in the third minute gifted the ball to Mohamed Salah inside the box and he made no mistake with a clinical finish to give Liverpool the lead, 1-0.
The Reds controlled the game after that and came close to scoring their second goal in the 19th minute when Salah met a low right wing cross, but he sent his 16-yard shot inches over the target.
In the 34th minute goalkeeper Hugo Lloris produced a fine save to keep Tottenham in the game when he denied Virgil Van Dijk a headed goal from close range.
Tottenham’s only decent chance of the half came a minute before the break when Mousa Dembele found himself in space on the edge of the box, but saw his powerfully struck shot superbly saved by Loris Karius.
Tottenham came out a renewed side in the second half and pushed players forward in search of an equaliser.
Kane came close to levelling matters on the hour mark when he met a free-kick cross into the box, but he saw his ten-yard header magnificently saved by Karius.
In the 75th minute Kane was in the thick of the action again when he met another cross into the box, but this time his header shaved the wrong side of the woodwork.
Five minutes later Tottenham did find the equaliser after fantastic long-range volley from Kenyan Victor Wanyama found the corner of the net, 1-1.
Kane had a golden opportunity to win the game in the 87th minute after his side was awarded a penalty-kick, but he missed from the spot after a save from Karius.
Salah looked to have stolen victory for Liverpool in the dying seconds of the match after dribbling his way into the box before finding the back of the net in the 92nd minute, 2-1.
Kane and Spurs, though, was not going down without a fight and levelled matters for a second time after converting a penalty-kick in the 95th minute.
