English Premier League
Result: Liverpool 0-0 Stoke City
Date: 28 April 2018
Liverpool were left frustrated after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Stoke City in a Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
Reds coach Jurgen Klopp made a number of changes as Danny Ings, Ragnar Klavan, Joe Gomez and Alberto Moreno being handed starts.
PFA Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah should have put the Reds ahead after just five minutes but the Egyptian failed to beat Jack Butland in a one-on-one situation.
Stoke had to wait until the 20th minute for their first chance, but Mame Biram Diouf failed to direct his header on target at the far post.
The Reds dominated the first half, but they were often let down by their decision-making in the final third.
The hosts thought they had the opening goal just before the break, but Ings' powerful volley was ruled out due to offside.
Klopp's men dominated upon resumption in the second half, but they struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances in the opening 15 minutes.
Moreno went close to breaking the deadlock for the Reds on 67 minutes, but his long-range strike sailed inches wide of the upright.
The Reds upped the tempo heading into the final 15 minutes of the clash, while Stoke were happy to sit back and attack on the counter.
Despite a late push from the home side, they failed to break the deadlock and were forced to settle for a point on home soil.
