Liverpool leapfrogged Manchester United into second spot in the Premier League after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 thanks to goals from their African superstars, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The game's first real opening arrived after 16 minutes through Salah, whose snapshot from the edge of the box forced Martin Dubravka into a superb save.
Salah was not to be denied on 39 minutes, though, as the Egyptian collected a pass from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before side-footing the ball past Dubravka from 12-yards out, 1-0.
Newcastle, meanwhile, sat deep for most of the half and looked to play balls over the top for the pacy Dwight Gayle.
The Magpies did go close to leveling matters on the stroke of half-time when Mohamed Diame unleashed an effort from distance that was brilliantly tipped away by Loris Karius.
Ten minutes into the second half, Liverpool doubled their lead as Roberto Firmino played Sadio Mane through on goal and the Senegalese calmly slotted into the far corner, 2-0.
With the Reds comfortably leading, Klopp withdrew Mane for Adam Lallana on 73 minutes.
The home side continued to push for a third goal but they were finding it tough to break down the visitors' defence.
Nevertheless, 2-0 was how the score remained as the Reds moved up into second spot ahead of United, who only play on Monday night.
