Liverpool secured the final Champions League spot, after recording a 3-0 win over relegated Middlesbrough on the final day of the season.
The Reds had a chance to break the deadlock after just six minutes but Nathaniel Clyne fired just wide from inside the box.
Jurgen Klopp's charges continued to push and went close after 21 minutes as Emre Can's stinging effort sailed inches wide of the upright.
Boro, meanwhile, offered very little going forward as it proved to be a quiet opening 45 minutes for Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime, as Georginio Wijnaldum rifled home from close range after being played in by Roberto Firmino.
The lead was doubled in the 51st minute courtesy of a clever strike from Philipp Coutinho which left Brad Guzan helpless.
Five minutes later, the Reds grabbed a third as Wijnaldum turned provider to pick out Adam Lallana, who made no mistake from close range,.
Much like the first half, the visitors rarely threatened in the final third , which prompted the manager to introduce Alvaro Negredo after 70 minutes.
The Reds continued to push for more goals as the half went on but the likes of Sturridge and Firmino struggled to carve out chances.
Nevertheless, Jurgen Klopp's managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease as they qualify for the Champions League group stage qualifiers.
