English Premier League
Teams: Liverpool v Chelsea
Date: 25 November 2017
Venue: Anfield
A resurgent Chelsea visit Anfield looking to continue their recent run of good form in the Premier League, while Mohamed Salah comes up against his former club for the first time since his return to English shores.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 19h30.
Chelsea head into the game off the back of 4-0 wins over West Brom and Qarabağ and a 1-0 win over Manchester United in their last three games. However, Liverpool have caused them problems in the last two seasons.
Since the arrival of Jürgen Klopp, the Reds have claimed eight points from four games against Chelsea.
Although they squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla in midweek, they head into this game in good league form, having beaten Huddersfield, West Ham and Southampton by three goals each in their last three games.
Former Chelsea winger Salah has been key to their attacking form and headed into the gameweek on top of the Premier League’s scoring chart, having netted nine times.
He struggled to break into the Blues lineup under José Mourinho and will be eager to prove a point to those who doubted him in West London.
There is rarely ever any love lost between these two sides and the stakes are high as usual for this clash.
A Chelsea win would be a firm statement of intent to haul in runaway leaders Manchester City, while a Liverpool victory would see Klopp’s side go level on points with the Blues and arguably kill off their title defence.
Here's how they line up:
Liverpool: Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Sturridge.
Chelsea: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill (c); Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso; Hazard, Morata.
