English Premier League
Result: Liverpool 3-2 Tottenham
Date: 10 February 2015
A five-goal thriller at Anfield saw Liverpool edge out Tottenham 3-2 in their Premier League clash on Tuesday night.
The Reds broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. Daniel Sturridge lost the ball in Tottenham's third and Jan Vertonghen intercepted, but he couldn't hold on to it and the ball went straight to Lazar Markovic who powered into the area before beating Hugo Lloris.
Spurs were right back in the game in the 26th minute as Harry Kane netted the visitors' opener. Erik Lamela played a slick through-pass to Kane who took a quick touch before rifling home the equaliser.
Shortly after the interval Liverpool were awarded a penalty after Sturridge was tripped up by Rose in the Spurs area. Steven Gerrard stepped up and converted the spot-kick leaving Lloris with no chance of making the save.
However, the visitors levelled matters once more just after the hour mark. A free-kick from Eriksen was parried by Mignolet but Kane reacted first and squared for Mousa Dembele who poked it home from close range.
The game was heading for a draw with time running out, but the hosts found one last goal in the 83rd minute. Lallana set up the goal brilliantly with a run to the byline where he crossed for Mario Balotelli to fire into the back of the net for the three points.
