Report: Huddersfield Town 1-3 Chelsea
Date: 12 December 2017
Venue: John Smith's Stadium
Willian bagged a goal and two assists to inspire Premier League champions Chelsea to a 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening.
The Blues dominated the early periods of the match with the Terriers pinned back in their own half.
Antonio Conte's charges were firm on the ball, but Steve Mounie got a rare chance at the other end of pitch following a corner with a shot that went agonisingly wide.
The visitors found the breakthrough in the 22nd minute through Tiemoue Bakayoko, who coolly slotted into the back of the net from close range after an error at the back.
The Blues were looking to extend their lead after-half-an-hour as they had the momentum and ball possession in their favour.
Willian finally got into the score-sheet three minutes before halftime with a free-header at the back post after being left unmarked, 2-0.
Pedro virtually sealed the match five minutes into the second half as he combined well with Willian inside the box before curling a fine effort into the top corner, 3-0.
The Terriers were doing damage limitation after 65 minutes as the visitors continued to dominate and threatening to run riot.
Eden Hazard nearly made it 4-0 in the 76th minute with low curling shot from inside the box but goalkeeper Jonas Lossl was equal to the Belgian's effort.
The visitors were cruising in the final five minutes of the match as one-way traffic continued, but Laurent Depoitre scored a consolation goal in stoppage time for the Terriers with a header following a corner, 1-3.
