Result: Everton 0-3 Manchester United
Date: 17 October 2015
Venue: Goodison Park
Manchester United were too good for Everton in their 3-0 riot at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United were the brighter starters in the game with a vocal crowd backing their Everton outfit, and Wayne Rooney was produced with the game’s first opportunity just after the ten-minute mark. A few moments later, it was Ander Herrera who came close as United continued to dominated the opening exchanges.
Morgan Schneiderlin finally rocked up to put a goal to the visitors’ dominance in the 21st minute, handing them a 1-0 advantage. A few moments later, it was Ander Herrera who stepped up to grab a fine second goal to extend their lead to 2-0.
The home side then upped the tempo in search of their first of the game, and Ross Barkley almost grabbed a goal on the stroke of half-time but 2-0 is how the teams headed into the break.
Everton had a better start to the second stanza, and Romelu Lukaku came close to grabbing an early goal but the Belgian failed to direct his effort. The hosts were looking quite good in the second half and Lukaku was back to test in the 54th De Gea but the Spaniard was up for the task.
Ten minutes later though, Wayne Rooney grabbed United’s third, making it 3-0 to the visitors after 60 minutes of play. It seemed momentum had shifted back in the visitors’ favour. The Red Devils continued to push forward as they gained momentum, and Anthony Martial had a superb strike well saved by Tim Howard in the 78th minute.
The intensity of the match started to diminish in the closing exchanges and United held on to the 3-0 lead.
