English Premier League
Result: Everton 3-1 Chelsea
Date: 07 December 2019
Venue: Goodison Park
Chelsea had a day to forget at Goodison Park, as Frank Lampard's side suffered a 3-1 loss to manager-less Everton on Saturday afternoon.
Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin joined the Everton line-up after the big loss to Liverpool, while the Blues were unchanged from the win over Aston Villa.
The Duncan Ferguson era got off to a lively start as Richarlison broke the deadlock after just five minutes with neat header from Djibril Sidibe's cross.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were left shell-shocked by the early goal from the Toffees and struggled to carve out any clear-cut openings against a side that conceded five on Wednesday night.
Unfortunately for the Blues, that was the trend for the remainder of the half as Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford enjoyed a quiet opening 45 minutes.
Everton were able to carry their intensity into the second half and were rewarded after 49 minutes when a mix-up in the Chelsea defence allowed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to sneak in and slot home the second goal.
Chelsea pulled a goal back three minutes later through Mateo Kovavic, who found the bottom corner from 20-yards out after Everton struggled to clear their lines.
With time running out, Frank Lampard threw on Callum Hudson-Odoi for Wilian in the 70th minute while Everton introduced Tom Davies for Richarlison.
However, Chelsea were put out of their misery with six minutes remaining in the half as Calvert-Lewin completed his brace with a close-range finish after a goal-mouth scramble in the box.
