Jesus Navas missed the best chance of the game in the 52nd minute when he was put through by De Bruyne, only to miss an open goal with his left boot.
Palace had one of their best chances of the game in the 70th minute when Souare powered down the left and crossed for Jason Puncheon to head on target but Joe Hart pulled off a fantastic save for City.
The decisive strike arrived in the 90th minute when youngster Kelechi Iheanacho pounced on the loose ball to find the back of the net for City, claiming three valuable points on the road after a tough game.
