Eden Hazard netted a brace as Chelsea returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge.
Daniel Sturridge’s struggles with injuries have continued to haunt him after he broke down in the fourth minute and was replaced by Jay Rodriguez.
Rodriguez had a glorious chance to give Alan Pardew’s charges the lead in the 10th minute after he intercepted a horrible header by Victor Moses, but his strike could not find the target.
Olivier Giroud should have opened the scoring in the 19th minute after being gifted space to pick his spot inside the box but his strike was saved by Ben Foster.
Eden Hazard sent the Blues ahead in the 25th minute with a clinical low right-footed strike that found the bottom corner after being teed up by Giroud.
Giroud almost made it 2-0 seven minutes before halftime with a spectacular overhead-kick that sailed just over the bar.
Ten minutes into the second half, Salomon Rondon should have equalised after dispossessing Andreas Christensen but Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save to deny the strike in the box.
Moses gave the home side breathing space two minutes after the hour with a composed finish from close range afterreceiving a through ball from Alvaro Morata who had just come on for Giroud.
Hazard got his brace 20 minutes before time after cutting to the inside before firing a low effort at Foster's near post, 3-0.
Morata almost got the fourth goal with 10 minutes remaining after with a fine curling effort that forced Foster into a fine save.
The Blues pushed for more goals but could not carve out another clear-cut opening as the score remained 3-0 at the full-time whistle.
