Premier League champions Chelsea showed their class as they thrashed Stoke City 5-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Three minutes into the game, the Blues broke the deadlock as Antonio Rudiger rose well to head home Willian's cross, 1-0.
The lead was doubled five minutes later as a poor clearance landed at the feet of Danny Drinkwater, who controlled well before rifling the ball into the top corner from 25-yards out, 2-0.
After a quiet spell, Chelsea extended their lead on 24 minutes when Willian picked out Pedro, who skipped past his marker before rifling the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box, 3-0.
Stoke struggled to carve out chances and they had the ball in the back of the net five minutes before the break, but Mame Biram Diouf's goal was ruled after a handball.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as the Blues took a commanding lead into the break.
10 minutes into the second half, Antonio Conte opted for a change as Davide Zappacosta repalced Victor Moses.
Alvaro Morata nearly added his name on the score-sheet on 60 minutes when he was sent through on goal, but Jack Butland produced a fine save to deny the striker.
The Blues were awarded a spot-kick on 73 minutes when WIllian was brought down by Geoff Cameroon. The Brazilian winger stepped up and smashed home the penalty, 4-0.
Conte's charges managed to bag a fifth goal in stoppage time when Zappacosta netted his first goal for the club with a fine left-footed effort from 20-yards out, 5-0.
