English Premier League
Result: Chelsea 0-0 Leicester City
Date: 13 January 2018
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Premier League champions Chelsea dropped points for the second straight league game as they were held to a 0-0 draw by ten-man Leicester City.
Jamie Vardy almost opened the scoring in the eighth minute after being sent clear on the right side of the box by Ben Chilwell, but he could not find the target with a right-footed strike.
In the 15th minute, Wilfred Ndidi was unlucky to see his header saved by Thibaut Courtois following a pin-point cross from Riyad Mahrez.
Eden Hazard had a chance on the break in the 26th minute after finding space to unleash a low shot from the centre of the box but Kasper Schmeichel produced a good save.
Seven minutes before the break, Schmeichel did well to deny Cesc Fabregas the breakthrough as he produced a fine save to keep out the Spaniard's powerful strike.
The half ended goalless with both set of goalkeepers making crucial saves to keep the score level.
After a quiet start to the second half, Antonio Conte made a double substitution by bringing on Willian in place of Fabregas and also withdrawing Hazard for Pedro.
The Foxes were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes left to play as the full-back Ben Chilwell got his second booking of the match and was shown a red card.
The Blues were doing little in capitalising on the numerical advantage with 10 minutes to play while the visitors were organised at the back.
Conte's troops lacked the sense of urgency in the closing stages of the half, as the Foxes held on for a valuable point.
