Chelsea Drop Points At Home To Arsenal

English Premier League Report: Chelsea v Arsenal 17 September 2017

By SL International - Sep 17, 2017 04:22 PM

English Premier League

Result: Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

Date: 17 September 2017

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea and Arsenal were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, after they played a out a 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners were without the services of Mesut Ozil, while Alexis Sanchez had to make do with a place on the bench.

There was a good tempo to the encounter, although neither side could carve out an opprtunity in the opening 15 minutes.

The Blues carved out a wonderful chance after 21 minutes when Cesc Fabregas played Pedro through on goal, but latter fired straight at Petr Cech in a one-on-one situation.

The visitors went close to breaking the deadlock after 32 minutes when Granit Xhaka unleashed a powerful effort that sailed inches wide of the upright.

Arsenal ended the first on a strong note and were unlucky not to have taken the lead when Aaron Ramsey was denied by the woodwork.

After a quiet start to the second half, Wenger introduced Sanchez after the hour mark before Antonio Conte brought on Eden Hazard after 68 minutes.

The Gunners had the ball in the back of the net after 75 minute but Shkodran Mustafi's header was ruled out by the referee.

Hazard went close to handing Chelsea the lead in the 80th minute, but Cech pulled off a fine save to deny the Belgian winger.

The Blues were reduced to 10 men in the closing stages as David Luiz was given a red card for tackle on Kolasinac.

Nonetheless, 0-0 was how the score remained as the referee brought an end to the game.

Nice game ! We should have won ! Substituting Iwobi for elneny was a defensive approach ! We should have gone for the win being the better team ! Play was fast in the absence of Ozil! In big games it's a blessing to be without Ozil Strong, disciplined away performance. Kept our shape well and looked strong in midfield, which was encouraging to see! Nice to see them being a little cynical when required as well... Decent result, worked hard, that's all we the fans want, passion and good football. COYG.
