Result: Cardiff City 2-3 Arsenal
Date: 02 September 2018
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium
Arsenal secured the spoils in a five-goal thriller against Cardiff City, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette getting among the goals.
Mesut Ozil returned to the Gunners line up after missing out against West Ham United, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan dropped to the bench.
After a shaky start, Unai Emery's men broke the deadlock on 12 minutes when Shkodran Mustafi powered home a header from Granit Xhaka's corner.
The Welsh outfit had not secured victory in their opening three matches, and it was not hard to see why with Harry Arter and Bobby Reid squandering good chances.
However, Cardiff pulled themselves level on the stroke of halftime as Victor Camarasa showed skill to control Joe Benett's cross before firing into the top corner.
The Gunners' restored their lead on the hour mark as Aubameyang collected a pass from Lacazette before curling the ball into the far corner.
Ten minutes later, Cardiff were level once again as a loose ball dropped to Danny Ward in the box, and the midfielder lashed one home from close range.
However, the visitors netted the winning goal in the 81st minutes as Lucas Torreira played in Lacazette, who turned well and fired into the far corner.
