Result: Burnley 0-1 Arsenal
Date: 26 November 2017
Venue: Turf Moor
Alexis Sanchez scored a penalty late in the second half to earn Arsenal a 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners enjoyed most of the possession in the early stages of the first half, but they failed to register an effort at goal.
In the 15th minute, Burnley carved out the game's first chance as Johann Gudmundsson saw his long range effort pushed onto the upright by Petr Cech.
Cech was proving to be the busier of the two goalkeepers in the first half, and he was called upon once again in the 37th minute, as he palmed away Robbie Brady's curling free-kick.
Arsene Wenger's men had plenty of the possession in the final stages of the first half, but they were unable to create any significant openings.
10 minutes into the second half, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope was called into action, as he produced a good save to keep out Alexandre Lacazette's effort.
The Gunners were struggling to bypass a stubborn Burnley defence, which prompted Wenger to withdraw Alex Iwobi for Jack Wilshere on 68 minutes.
With 15 minutes remaining, Arsenal were camped in the home side's half, as they went in search of a winning goal , while Wilshere saw his shot deflected just wide after 82 minutes.
However, the Gunners were awarded a penalty in the first minute of stoppage time, when Aaron Ramsey was brought down in the box.
Sanchez stepped up and converted the spot kick to hand Arsenal three points.
