Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on his Premier League debut, as Manchester United recorded a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in their opening Premier League clash.
Summer signings Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly were handed starts, while Juan Mata also started for Jose Mourinho's side.
The Red Devils dominated possession in the early stages of the first half, but only carved out their first opening after 20 minutes when Wayne Rooney forced Artur Boruc into a low save.
After a quiet spell in the half Bournemouth gifted United the lead, as Juan Mata bundled home from close range after two errors from Simon Francis.
Mourinho's charges continued to see most of the ball in the closing stages, but the score remained 1-0 at the halftime break.
United doubled their lead in the 59th minute when Anthony Martial's scuffed volley found Rooney, who headed home from six-yards out.
The visitors added a third goal in the 64th minute as Ibrahimovic fired home low effort from 25-yards to mark his Premier League debut with a goal.
However, Bournemouth reduced the deficit five minutes later through Adam Smith, who slammed home a wonderful left-footed effort from 12-yards out.
Mourinho introduced Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Morgan Schneiderlin for the final stages as Bournemouth were looking threatening.
However, the score remained 3-1 to the Red Devils at the full-time, as Mourinho begins his reign with three points.
